An Art and Design with Foundation Year course at Salford University interests me in particularly because I believe it will give me the opportunity to develop more complex ideas, using new techniques that will allow me to explore topics and subjects which I would not have been able to before. Experimenting with a variety of materials and looking at new methods of working would strongly aid both my technical and creative ability. I am eager to improve, explore, react and mature, constantly refining my work and allowing me to discover my area specialist of interest.

This is a final piece from my AS graphics work. A poster advertising the re-opening of "The Hacienda" nightclub, using influences from key artists such as Peter Saville (who produced art work for the original hacienda) which can be seen through the use of iconic black and yellow stripes and the repetition of the figures in the centre to suggest movement and dancing.

This is a final outcome of a project based on friendship and portraiture (sized A1). One half of the piece is a standard pencil drawing which I believe shows my technical ability of reproducing a photograph through drawing. On the other half, I used stick and ink to over-exaggerate creases in the face and used a textured background with newspaper to represents a more interesting and intriguing side that you can gain vision of through friendship.

This is a development piece of a project on music and rhythm. I used textures such as masking tape, wax and image maker combined with bright paint (shapes which suggest movement) and lyrics to give an interesting background. I then used ink to give a bold outline and bring the piece together.

This is a Final piece for a project on music and rhythm (sized A1). A collage using a variety of techniques such as acyrlic paint, ink, image maker and print making to represent music keeping people together.

Research into the artist Raymond Pettibon where I reproduced one of his pieces using ink.

A1 response from research of the artist Raymond Pettibon. I looked at his work during a recent project on punk and rebellion and decided to produce an ink drawing in his very recognisable and bold style.

A Piece of work I produced in the style of punk artist Jamie Reid. This is within my most recent project where I have linked together the idea of punk and rebellion with the controversial topic of the student riots and education cuts to give my work more depth and meaning behind it, reinventing the concepts of uprising and disobedience.

This is a development piece for my most recent project on rebellion and punk. I took inspiration from the artists I have studied and used bold red text in the background to contrast and stand out from the chaos in the foreground.

This is my final piece (incomplete) for my project on rebellion. A protest banner (150/100cm) which will be produced using ink and show the controversial idea of a police man holding a protest poster which ,I hope, will be a representation of modern day rebellion.
